EP ADDASOL SHIELDCOAT is a two part, 60% solids, pigmented solvent based epoxy resin using an especially blended solvent mix. Ep AddaSOL SHIELDCOAT is designed for use as a pigmented coating or line marking paint for concrete, steel, architectural aluminium and galvanised steel.

 

Preperation of Surface: 

The surface to be treated should be free of laitance, oil, grease and loose friable particles which could affect adhesion. Vacuum assisted shot blasting or grinding of the surface is recommended. The substrate must have a maximum of 4% moisture content and be protected against any moisture ingress from underneath. It is highly recommended to prime a metal surface before application. Please refer to EP Addasol Shieldcoat Primer data sheet for further information on preparation and applications details.

 

Health and Safety:

Before using this product, please ensure you have been supplied and have read carefully the following:-

1.         The hazard label (complying with CLP – European Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 on Classification, Labelling and Packaging of substances and mixtures) applied to the container.

2.         Safety Data Sheet       

Avoid prolonged contact with eyes and skin.  For detailed information refer to relevant safety data sheet.

Mixing and Application:

EP ADDASOL SHIELDCOAT is supplied in units ready to use, comprising of Part ‘A’ (Resin) and Part ‘B’ (Hardener).  First stir thoroughly contents in container ‘A’ to a homogenous consistency, then scrap contents of ‘B’ into container ‘A’ and mix thoroughly for several minutes using a low speed electric drill.  Use protective gloves and goggles.  Failure to mix thoroughly will result in poor or non cured material.  Keep all containers at room temperature 24 hours before use.

The temperature of the substrate must be 3 degrees above the dew point temperature of the room.  See Addagrip Dew Point table for assistance.  EP ADDASOL SHIELDCOAT should not be applied at temperatures below 10˚C nor above 30˚C. Relative humidity should not exceed 80%.

Apply the mixed EP ADDASOL SHIELDCOAT immediately by brush or roller onto the prepared surface. Particular attention should be given to areas around obstructions and protrusions making sure that all surfaces are covered. 

 

Packaging and Storage

Packaged in 5kg units. Store containers in a clean dry area protected from direct sunlight and extreme heat and cold. Unopened containers can be stored for 12 months. Use oldest material first.
